2 Arrested After Officers Seize Bags Of Drugs, Loaded Gun, Other Materials: Stamford Police

STAMFORD, CT — Two people were arrested last week after a monthlong investigation into cocaine sales within the City of Stamford, according to police, who seized numerous bags of drugs and a loaded gun during the execution of search warrants.

The Stamford Police Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit (NOC) had secured search warrants for Victor "Bachata" Martinez, 47, his vehicle and Vernon Place apartment, police said.

In the late afternoon of Sept. 17, NOC detectives executed those search warrants and seized 17 bags of powder cocaine and $141 in cash from Martinez's person after he tried to run upon noticing the authorities, police said.

Inside the apartment, police found Brenis Arias-Arias, 53.

Detectives subsequently found a Smith & Wesson Shield "EZ 30" .32 caliber semi-automatic handgun, 10 9mm rounds, 27.5 grams of powder cocaine, packaging material, cutting agents, a digital scale and $4,796 in cash, police said.

Martinez was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and interfering with police. He was issued a bond of $2,500.

Arias-Arias was charged with criminal possession of a firearm; criminal possession of ammunition; illegal transfer of a firearm; possession of narcotics; possession of narcotics with intent to sell; and operating a drug factory. Arias-Arias's bond was $50,000.

Both arrestees are scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Oct. 1.
