2 Stamford Officers Honored For Saving Woman From Choking

The two-off duty officers saved a woman from choking at a Stamford restaurant last month, according to reports.

STAMFORD, CT — Two off-duty Stamford police officers were honored earlier this week for saving a woman from choking, News 12 Connecticut reported.

Officers Tim Inverno and Tom Landry were off duty at a restaurant one night last month when a woman nearby began choking, News 12 said.

The two jumped into action to render aid.

Inverno and Landry were recognized at the Stamford Police Commission's regularly scheduled meeting on Nov. 7.

"If not for the quick actions of Officer Tim Inverno and Officer Tom Landry, this incident may have turned for the worst," Stamford Police Chief Timothy Shaw said, according to News 12.

The Stamford Advocate reported that the woman, Melissa Crawford, a Cos Cob resident, was at the meeting on Monday and thanked the officers for helping her in a time of need.
