Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
To voice the needs of the residents of North Stamford. We are not being properly represented, as is evident by the number of planned major construction developments that are being planned along Long Ridge Rd.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it.
the uncontrolled expansion and building of rental units on Long Ridge Rd. I plan to scale back or look for alternative means of developing those commercial sights.
We need to look at the impact of adding residential units to an area that is already heavily congested with traffic. In addition, the building of infrastructure to support these added residents and the effect it will have on the surrounding community. The accessibility of major services by fire, police, EMS in a time of need. There are only two roads that connect Long Ridge to High Ridge Rds. and one of them is closed. There needs to be greater access to Long Ridge Rd. before hundreds of people are brought to the area.
Also, if there is further congestion around the entrance to the Merritt, how will North Stamford be serviced by essential services in a time of crises, especially if it occurs during a rush hour?
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I would ask for the residents of North Stamford to be involved in the review of capital projects for development, before the properties are sold to developers. Enviromental studies and traffic studies need to be reviewed before these parcels of land are sold. An alternative means of connecting Long Ridge Rd. to High Ridge Rd. needs to be explored. No one is addressing these needs.
If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?
My incumbent has not taken a stand supporting his constituents, by voicing their opinion. My incumbent has not pushed for full disclosure of the developers that were approved by the planning board, before the properties were sold.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Charter revision also needs to be addressed.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Having held many senior management positions, along with managing budgets and negotiating between many levels of management and clients, to achieve desired outcomes. I have the skills and experience in listening to all sides before making a decision.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
You have 2 ears and one mouth, listen before you speak. Once something is said, it's difficult to take it back.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I represent my fellow neighbors and with that comes the responsibility to act in their best interests. I would be representing North Stamford, not green, red or blue parties. We are all in the same boat, my job is to make sure we stay afloat and not take any special interests into account.
