4 Stamford Police Officers Investigated For 'Alleged Wrongdoing'

STAMFORD, CT — Four Stamford police officers are being investigated by the department for "alleged wrongdoing," officials announced Friday on department's Facebook page.

Details of the allegations were not disclosed, but the department is asking for the public's patience while the investigation plays out. The department has not disclosed the officers' identities.

"We understand that you have questions and concerns. We ask for your support and patience during this time," officials wrote. "We pledge to be completely transparent but please understand that the process must run its course. This is an issue that was uncovered by our department and will be dealt with appropriately and full disclosure will be made to you."

The four have been suspended with pay while the department conducts the investigation, which may involve discrepancies into payment for extra-duty jobs, reports the Stamford Advocate.

At issue could be a total misappropriation of nearly $200,000, according to the publication.
