STAMFORD, CT — Several businesses registered in Stamford over the last month, including a new barbecue venture, according to new data from the state.
The data shows that "487 Barbecue Limited Liability Company," classified under "full-service restaurants," registered at 487 Glenbrook Road, the former site of Tawa Indian Cuisine.
Leland Avellino is associated with the registration. Avellino is the owner and pit boss of Avellino Family Barbecue, which operates pop-up and private events, catering, and a food truck in the Stamford area and around CT.
Avellino is also a former executive chef and partner with Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, a barbecue chain that once had a location in Stamford at 845 Canal St. The restaurant closed in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Further details on the business registration at 487 Glenbrook Road were not immediately available.
The data is from the Connecticut Business Registry, maintained by the Secretary of the State, Business Services Division.
The division is tasked with handling all business-related activities within the state, as well as providing commercial support services to corporations and individuals starting or already running businesses here.
One of the functions of the office is to provide current and comprehensive information to business owners and employers. It also offers start-up guides on how to set up and operate a business in any of its municipalities.
