The Bridgeport man was part of a drug trafficking ring that operated in Stamford and other Connecticut communities.

STAMFORD, CT — A 56-year-old Bridgeport man was sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy operating in southwestern Connecticut, U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan announced.

Gerald Coley, also known as "G Rock," was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea in Hartford to 37 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release.

According to court documents and statements made in court, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and the Stamford Police Department identified Rodney Canada as the leader of a drug trafficking organization distributing fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine in Stamford and elsewhere in southwestern Connecticut.

Investigators said a 2024 investigation involving court-authorized wiretaps and controlled narcotics purchases found that Canada, Coley and others coordinated street-level drug distribution through members of the conspiracy. Authorities intercepted more than 5,000 text messages and calls tied to the investigation.

Federal authorities said Coley was recorded on wiretaps discussing drug trafficking activity with Canada. Investigators also said Coley managed cash for the organization and at times supplied Canada with drugs obtained in New York City.

Coley, Canada and other members of the conspiracy were arrested May 14, 2024. Authorities executed court-authorized searches in Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport and Darien and seized about three kilograms of cocaine, nearly 400 grams of raw fentanyl, more than 500 bags of fentanyl, five firearms, a bulletproof vest and seven vehicles, according to prosecutors.

A search of Coley’s residence in Bridgeport also uncovered about 20 grams of crack cocaine, more than 700 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

Coley pleaded guilty Dec. 17, 2025, to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine. He has remained in custody since his arrest.

Federal prosecutors said Coley has a criminal history spanning more than 30 years and that this was his third federal conviction. In 2001, he was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison for trafficking crack cocaine. In 2014, he was sentenced to 48 months for unlawfully possessing a firearm and violating conditions of supervised release.

Canada previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced Dec. 15, 2025, to 110 months in prison.

The investigation involved the DEA’s Bridgeport HIDTA Task Force, Stamford Police Department, Bridgeport Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service, with assistance from the FBI, Connecticut State Police, and police departments in Norwalk, Danbury and Darien.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Patricia Stolfi Collins and Geoffrey M. Stone are prosecuting the case.
