DNA Links Man To Illegal Guns, Stamford Police Say

STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford man was arrested earlier this week after police say they used DNA analysis to link him to two illegal firearms.

Officers responded to the Danbury Police Department on June 9 to take custody of Jackson Alcide, 30, who was in custody on unrelated drug charges, according to police.

An arrest warrant out of Stamford charged Alcide with two counts of illegal transfer of a firearm and altering ID marks on a firearm.

On Jan. 9, the Stamford Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad received information that Alcide was stashing firearms in an apartment on Forest Street in Stamford, Assistant Stamford Police Chief Richard Conklin said.

Officers went to the apartment and spoke to the occupant, who gave permission for a search, Conklin noted.

Inside a hidden black fanny pack, officers found a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number; a Smith & Wesson .38 Special Revolver loaded with five rounds; a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield handgun magazine; 24 9mm rounds; and three .380 rounds, Conklin said.

Investigators identified Alcide as a potential suspect, and DNA search warrants for the firearms and Alcide were applied for and approved, Conklin said, adding the results came back as a match for Alcide.

Alcide was issued a court-set bond of $250,000.
