Community Rallying To Support Family Of Child Who Died After Falling From Apartment Window In Stamford

STAMFORD, CT — The community is stepping up to support the family of the 4-year-old child who died after falling from a 10th-floor apartment window in Stamford earlier this week.

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched by Asma Elidrissi, described as a "neighbor and friend" in the apartment located in the 70 block of Prospect Street.

As of Thursday morning, the fundraiser had raised over $2,000.

Police said the incident occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m. on July 26.

A group of female residents on Prospect Street flagged down a Stamford police patrol supervisor and reported that a child had fallen from an apartment window, police said.

Police, along with Stamford fire and EMS personnel, immediately responded. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no indication of foul play, but an investigation remains ongoing.

The fundraiser's description noted the boy was visiting his grandmother, who lives in the apartment building.

"No words can describe the pain and heartbreak his parents, family, friends, and neighbors are experiencing. Our hearts are broken, and our entire community is grieving alongside them," Elidrissi wrote in the description.

"In the days since this tragedy, countless friends, neighbors, and community members have reached out to me asking how they can help support this family," Elidrissi added. "With the family's permission, I am creating this GoFundMe because we believe it is the best way for our community to come together and provide meaningful support during this incredibly difficult time."

Donations will go directly to the family to help cover funeral expenses and "other immediate financial needs," according to the fundraiser.

"This family has always been a valued part of our building and our community. Now, they need us more than ever. No parent should ever have to endure the pain of losing a child," Elidrissi wrote. "While we cannot take away their grief, we can surround them with love, compassion, and support, and help ease some of the financial burden they now face. If you are able, please consider making a donation, no matter the amount. Every contribution will make a difference."
