New Canaan Country School Announces 2026–27 Admission Event Schedule

The school's Priority Application (and financial aid) season opens September 1 and continues through January 15.

Families exploring independent school options are invited to discover New Canaan Country School's Pre-K through Grade 9 program through a variety of admission events this fall.

The school's Priority Application season opens September 1 and continues through January 15. Applications received during this period receive priority consideration, and financial aid decisions are made during this admissions cycle. Following January 15, applications are considered on a rolling, space-available basis.

"We encourage families to begin the process early," said Beth O'Brien, Director of Enrollment & Financial Aid. "Visiting campus, meeting our teachers and students, and experiencing the community firsthand is the best way to determine whether Country School is the right fit for your child."

New Canaan Country School serves students ages 3 through Grade 9 and is known for its joyful approach to learning, intentionally small classes, expansive 85-acre campus, and commitment to academic excellence, outdoor education, arts, athletics and character development.

Throughout the fall, prospective families are invited to attend one or several of the school's in-person and virtual events.

All School Open House

Sunday, October 4 | 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

The school's signature admission event welcomes families to experience Country School through hands-on activities designed for children ages 3 to 12. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet Head of School Aaron Cooper, divisional leaders, faculty, current parents and students while touring the campus. Children and walk-ins are welcome.

Campus Tours

Fridays: October 2, 9, 16, 23 | November 13 | December 4 & 119:30–10:30 a.m.

These one-hour guided tours allow families to see classrooms in action, explore the campus and learn more about the student experience from Pre-K through Grade 9.

Division Open Houses

Families seeking information about specific age groups are invited to attend one of three division-focused events:

Early Childhood (Ages 3, 4 & Kindergarten)
Wednesday, October 14 | 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Meet Jeannie Bean, Director of Early Childhood, to learn about the school's youngest learners and its play-based, inquiry-driven approach.

Lower School (Grades 1–4)
Wednesday, October 21 | 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Head of Early Childhood & Lower School Meaghan Mallin will discuss how Country School's academic, athletic and arts programs are designed to support students throughout the elementary years.

Middle & Upper School (Grades 5–9)
Wednesday, November 11 | 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Join Kirsten Rosolen, Head of Middle & Upper Schools, to explore the distinctive Grade 5 through Grade 9 experience, including leadership opportunities, outdoor education and preparation for secondary school.

Virtual Information Sessions

Families unable to visit campus are invited to attend A Conversation with Country School, a virtual Zoom program hosted by Head of School Aaron Cooper alongside Country School's ninth graders.

Thursday, November 5 | 9:00–10:00 a.m.Thursday, December 3 | 9:00–10:00 a.m.

Participants will learn about the school's educational philosophy, its unique Pre-K through Grade 9 model, and hear directly from students about their experiences.

Families interested in applying or learning more are encouraged to register early for these events and begin the admissions process before the January 15 Priority Application deadline to ensure full consideration for admission and financial aid.
