STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Youth Mental Health Alliance will offer three free youth mental health first aid training sessions this fall, including one in Haitian Creole.
The evidence-based training will cover common youth mental health challenges, adolescent development and a five-step action plan for supporting young people in crisis and non-crisis situations.
Participants will learn how to start conversations about mental health and substance use and connect young people with appropriate resources.

The Haitian Creole session will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Lathon Wilder Community Center, 34 Woodland Ave.
The sessions are free, but space is limited and advance registration is required.

The training is sponsored by the Stamford Youth Mental Health Alliance, a citywide network of more than 35 organizations working to improve access to mental health services for children and adolescents.
The alliance's goals include building greater awareness of the importance of youth mental wellness, ensuring care is accessible and inclusive, and facilitating a comprehensive system of intervention and support for families throughout the community.
