'Wanted' Individual Eludes Police After Foot Pursuit: Stamford PD

STAMFORD, CT — Police activity related to an investigation on Tuesday has been cleared, according to an update from police.

Police announced earlier that they were conducting an investigation in the area of Richmond Hill Avenue and Rose Park Avenue, and urged the public to avoid the area.

Assistant Stamford Police Chief Richard Conklin told Patch a patrol officer had seen a "wanted" individual in the area and engaged him in a foot pursuit.

The individual was then seen entering the home of a family member, Conklin said. Police did not provide details on the individual.

A perimeter was set up as officers sought permission to search the home, Conklin said, adding that permission was denied.

After a search warrant was obtained and officers went inside, it was determined the wanted individual was no longer there.

Conklin said there was some indication the individual was in the home, but that he possibly was able to slip away before a perimeter was established.

The area was opened to traffic Tuesday afternoon. It was not immediately clear why the individual was wanted by police.
