Stamford Public Schools Names New Assistant Director Of Adult And Continuing Education

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools announced this week that Edith M. Presley has been named assistant director of adult and continuing education, effective Oct. 1.

Presley will develop adult education programming and assist with the operation of programs that serve more than 2,000 residents ages 17 and older annually in Stamford and surrounding communities. She will report to Angela Thomas-Graves, director of adult and continuing education.

Presley joins the district from Stamford Cradle to Career, where she has served as president of the nonprofit organization since 2022. Before that, she was an educational adviser and consultant with DOMUS Kids and the Stamford Public Education Foundation.

She previously spent nearly 10 years with Stamford Public Schools, serving as co-principal of Roxbury Elementary School, assistant principal and principal at Julia A. Stark Elementary School, assistant director of special education services, assistant principal at Dolan Middle School and individual learning needs coach at Northeast Elementary School.

Earlier in her career, Presley was a special education teacher and IEP teacher at the New York City Department of Education's Elizabeth Barrett Browning Middle School, M.S. 399, in the Bronx.

"Her experience working across Stamford Public Schools and with community organizations, municipal agencies, and families will be an asset as we continue to expand opportunities for adult learners. Most importantly, she shares our commitment to ensuring that learners of all backgrounds have access to high-quality educational opportunities that help them achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals."

Presley earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Grambling State University, a Master of Administration in Education from Mercy College and a certificate in educational leadership from Sacred Heart University. She holds Connecticut State Department of Education certifications in Intermediate Administration & Supervision (CT092) and K-12 Special Education (CT165).
