STAMFORD, CT — The space that formerly housed the Fairway supermarket at 699 Canal St. in Stamford has been vacant for over six years, but it won't remain empty for long.
Chipotle, Jersey Mike's and a Primrose School location have signed leases to open within the redeveloped supermarket space in Harbor Point, according to commercial real estate firm Charter Realty. Club Studio, a fitness and health club, lists "coming soon" to the building on its website.
Additionally, Charter Realty indicates it has a lease out to an unnamed grocery store for a 13,080-square-foot space.
Dan Zelson, principal of Charter Realty, told Patch on Tuesday he anticipated Chipotle, Jersey Mike's and Primrose School to be in for permits "shortly."
Depending on when the permits are granted, construction will start immediately after, Zelson noted. He didn't provide any details when asked for more information on the potential grocery store.
"We are hopeful we can make further announcements very soon," Zelson added.
Chipotle is slated for 2,519 square feet, and Jersey Mike's will take up 1,176 square feet.
Primrose School is a national chain of private early education and care schools serving infants through kindergarten-aged children. The school has signed on for 16,167 square feet.
Connecticut has 46 Chipotle locations, and Jersey Mike's has 46. The two fast-casual giants already have Stamford locations next to each other at 1207-1209 High Ridge Road.
