STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Board of Representatives' Steering Committee meets Tuesday to set next month's agenda, including $991,192 for new parking meters, an urban grocery store district, a review of e-bike rules and EV charging fees at two city garages.

1. $991,192 For New Parking Meters Heads To Reps
When: Steering Committee Tuesday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m. (webinar); Fiscal Committee Oct. 26
Where: Online; Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd.
What to know: The Steering Committee will place before the board $991,192 to replace all city parking meters to lower operating costs, $1 million for parking garage upgrades and $200,000 for traffic and pedestrian improvements on Long Ridge and High Ridge roads tied to a development at 120 Long Ridge Road, according to the agenda. A contract with Municipal Valuations Services LLC for the Oct. 1, 2027, citywide revaluation is also on the list.

2. Urban Grocery Store District Ordinance
When: Legislative and Rules Committee Tuesday, Oct. 27, 7 p.m.
Where: Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd.
What to know: An ordinance establishing an urban grocery store development district in the city is headed for publication, according to the Steering Committee agenda. A resolution urging state lawmakers to pass window safety legislation to protect children is also on the committee's list.

3. Reps To Review E-Bike Rules, Garage EV Charging Fees
When: Operations committee Oct. 22; Public Safety committee Oct. 29 (both by webinar)
Where: Online; Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd.
What to know: The Public Safety and Health Committee will review state and local e-bike laws and police enforcement, including possible new rules, along with blighted property procedures and the city's air quality monitoring, according to the agenda. The Operations, Parks and Recreation Committee will hold public hearings on cost-recovery fees for electric vehicle chargers at the Bell Street and Government Center garages and review the noise ordinance.

4. Housing Trust Fund Ordinance, Southwood Square Funding
When: C.H.E.S.S. Committee Tuesday, Oct. 20, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd.
What to know: The committee will take up an amended ordinance on the Stamford Housing Affordable Trust Fund for a public hearing and final adoption, and a rejection of a $1.5 million allocation to Southfield Village Limited Partnership (Beacon Communities LLC) to rehabilitate 315 mixed-income apartments at Southwood Square, according to the agenda.

5. Citizen Of The Year Nominations Open
When: Nominations due Friday, Dec. 11
Where: Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd.
What to know: Mayor Caroline Simmons announced that nominations are open for the 2027 Stamford Citizen of the Year, an award given since 1945. Nominees should show a belief in interfaith harmony, high standards in civic life, support for public welfare projects and significant contributions to Stamford. Nominations can be made at stamfordcoty.org or emailed to info@StamfordCOTY.org.
