Stamford's 2026 Leaf Pickup Schedule Released

Here's when leaf pickup will begin this season in Stamford.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford's 2026 Leaf Pickup Program will begin Nov. 12 in the northern part of the city, with collection in other zones scheduled to follow.

Residents should place raked or bagged leaves behind the curb before their zone's start date. Leaves should not be placed on sidewalks or in the street. Pickup dates are guidelines, and weather may cause delays.

The pickup schedule is:

Leaves must be kept separate from brush, dirt and other debris. Residents should avoid putting leaves out after city crews have completed their shift. Leaf piles or bags that do not follow the guidelines will not be collected.

The city will post temporary no-parking signs on heavily parked streets to allow for collection. Vehicles parked illegally during that time may be ticketed and towed.

Residents are encouraged to mulch leaves directly into their lawns. Mulching recycles nutrients into the lawn improves soil health and helps retain moisture for plantings while offering an easy, environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to raking.

Residents can also compost leaves, rake them into wooded areas of their property to decompose naturally or bring them to a city leaf drop-off location.
