STAMFORD, CT — Bar Rosso, a popular Italian restaurant and bar, has closed its doors at 28 Spring St. in Stamford after more than 15 years in business.
It appears the restaurant had been closed for a several weeks, according to a Stamford Reddit post, but it became official Wednesday with an announcement from owner Diego Suarez-Caicedo.
"Over the years, Bar Rosso has been more than just a restaurant. It has been a place where friendships were formed, special occasions were celebrated, and countless memories were made," Suarez-Caicedo wrote in a social media post, thanking guests, business partners and the Stamford community for years of support and loyalty.
"While operations at our longtime location have come to an end, we are exploring opportunities for the future of Bar Rosso, including potential relocation and new partnerships. At this time, no plans have been finalized," Suarez-Caicedo noted.
Suarez-Caicedo said he remains "hopeful about what the future may bring."
The restaurant originally opened in 2011 under the ownership of Mary Schaeffer. The space at 28 Spring St. was previously occupied by Bennett's Steak & Fish House.
Bar Rosso featured antipasto, salads, pizza, pasta, and a variety of Italian-inspired entrees. There was also a happy hour menu and an assortment of beer, wine and cocktails.
