STAMFORD, CT — SoundWaters announced this week that Stamford resident Isaiah Sainvil, a recent graduate of Fairfield Prep High School, was awarded the 2026 Scott Mitchell Scholarship.
Given annually, this $1,000 scholarship recognizes a student who demonstrates leadership and a commitment to environmental stewardship.
Sainvil has been part of the SoundWaters community for years, first participating as a student in its educational programs before serving as a counselor at Camp SoundWaters in 2024, 2025 and 2026, according to an announcement.
This fall, Sainvil started classes as a freshman at St. Joseph's University.
"It's incredibly rewarding to see students like Isaiah grow with SoundWaters and return to our programs in leadership roles," said SoundWaters Director of Education Christina Genz in an announcement. "We're proud to recognize him with this scholarship and look forward to seeing all he accomplishes."
Established in 2019, the Scott Mitchell Scholarship honors the legacy of Scott Mitchell, a longtime SoundWaters Board member who left a lasting impact on the organization. Mitchell served as chair of the Board of Directors from 2013-2018.
