Purchase College, SUNY Offers 57% Off Part-Time Tuition Rate For Fairfield County Residents

Pssst! It’s no secret. Yet few in Fairfield County, Conn. know that they will pay less than half of what other Connecticut residents pay for a quality education at Purchase College, State University of New York. Purchase College offers residents of nearby Fairfield County a reduced part-time tuition rate of $253 per credit for non-matriculated students. This rate reflects a 57 percent discount from the college’s traditional fee for out-of-state tuition.

In addition, Purchase has significantly increased the number of seats available for non-matriculated students in courses across the curriculum. Among the offerings are credit-bearing courses in humanities, natural and social sciences, arts and film, as well as individual courses in language, math, video techniques, and even bronze casting. “Attending Purchase College is already affordable,” said Dennis Craig, Vice President/Associate Provost of Enrollment Management at Purchase College. “Our goal is to further encourage both our Connecticut neighbors – who in some cases live just eight miles from campus – as well as all non-matriculated students to take advantage of our distinctive academic programs and outstanding faculty.”

The non-matriculated status is most suited to students who wish to enroll in courses for learning/upgrading job skills, fulfilling degree requirements for future enrollment at Purchase College or another institution, or personal enrichment. The non-matriculated status allows any interested individual – even high school seniors -- to enroll in college credit courses without declaring a major or seeking a degree. It is important to note that no more than 11 credits per semester, and no more than 30 credits total, may be taken at this rate.
