The day before the Supreme Court hears arguments on whether Mahanoy School District violated a high school student’s right to free speech, Academy of Information Technology & Information (AITE) students will conduct their own moot court. The case revolves around a student, who sent an expletive-laden Snapchat to her classmates that criticized the school and some of its extracurricular offerings. The student was subsequently suspended from the cheerleading squad for a year. The court will be considering whether the First Amendment prohibits public school officials from regulating off-campus student speech.

Clad in black robes, AITE students will play the roles of the nine Court Justices, as well as the attorneys for both sides, and the news media.
