Attic Fire Causes 'Significant Damage' To Stamford Home: FD

The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

STAMFORD, CT — An attic fire caused "significant damage" to a Stamford home last Friday, according to the Stamford Fire Department.

At 1:07 p.m. on Feb. 6, Stamford and Long Ridge Fire Department firefighters were called to a home in the 80-block of Heming Way in North Stamford on a report of a fire in an attic, the SFD said.

A working fire was confirmed by arriving units, and a hose line was stretched to the second floor where firefighters were able to begin an attack at fire above in the attic.

The blaze was declared under control at 1:58 p.m., fire officials said.

The SFD noted 44 firefighters responded to the scene.

Extensive overhaul was needed to find remaining hot spots within the home," the SFD said. "Due to the location and extent of the fire, the house sustained significant damage."
