Award Recipients Announced For Stamford Chamber's Annual Meeting

The Chamber's 35th annual meeting and awards event is scheduled for Sept. 29 at The Water's Edge at Giovanni's in Darien.

STAMFORD, CT — On Thursday, Sept. 29, the Stamford Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their 35th Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony with keynote speaker Attorney General William Tong, along with welcome remarks from Mayor Caroline Simmons.

The Chamber’s signature event will be hosted at The Water’s Edge at Giovanni’s in Darien.

The Stamford Chamber of Commerce is an advocate for Stamford businesses of all sizes, and those in its surrounding communities, through economic development, connectivity, inclusion and business education.

Several awards honoring supporters of the Chamber and the entire city will be given out during the event.

The Company of the Year Award will be presented to Carmody Torrence Sandak Hennessey LLP, a leading law firm for more than 100 years with offices in Stamford, New Haven, Waterbury, Litchfield and Southbury.

For many years, a representative from the firm has served on the Chamber Board of Directors, providing guidance and resources to the Chamber and being actively engaged in the community.

Through their employees’ volunteer efforts and pro bono legal assistance, the firm provide overs 1,400 hours each year to assist low-income and underserved individuals in local communities.

The Member of The Year Award will be given to Robin Faller, vice president of digital sales at Ferocious Media.

Faller has been a member of the Chamber’s board of directors and now holds a seat on the Executive Committee.

"She is a hands-on team partner dedicating her time and knowledge to increasing digital awareness and engagement throughout the Chamber’s social media and content," the Chamber said in a news release. "Robin’s experience and involvement is evident in all that she does well beyond the scope of marketing expertise."

The Community Excellence Award is proudly presented to Delta Dental and The Delta Dental Foundation for the corporation’s dedication and support to businesses, the Chamber and to those in need in Stamford and surrounding communities.

The Delta Dental Foundation supports various nonprofit organizations that improve the oral health of Connecticut and New Jersey residents by providing charitable contributions to solve oral health care challenges.

The foundation supports access to dental care and education for uninsured/underinsured children, seniors, veterans, and those with developmental disabilities.

In the Stamford area, the Delta Dental Foundation is currently supporting:

  • SilverSource Inc. with a $10,000 SMILE Mini grant to support dental treatment of low-income seniors in Stamford. SilverSource is an independent, nonprofit agency that provides financial support, counseling, case management and other services to improve the economic stability and quality of life for older residents of the Stamford/lower Fairfield region.
  • Connecticut Mission of Mercy with a $25,000 SMILE grant to support a state-wide initiative that provides free dental care to more than 1,400 people over a two-day period. People from across the state and the region attend this event each year to obtain dental services ranging from cleanings to dentures. This year’s CT MOM will take place Nov. 12-13, 2022, at the UCONN Dental School of Dental.
  • UCONN Foundation with a $248,758 SMILE grant to be awarded over three years, allowing UCONN Foundation to expand access to care to the state’s most vulnerable and in need of specialized healthcare services. Over the three-year grant period more than 1,400 people with developmental disabilities will receive vital dental services.

"Through Delta Dental’s collaborations and employees volunteer efforts, they have touched so many lives and made a positive difference in our communities through their important work supporting numerous nonprofit organizations and individuals by providing vital contributions to the community and the Chamber," said Stamford Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Heather Cavanagh.

"Their generosity embodies the Chamber’s mission that collaboration is key to creating an inclusive environment for all to embrace and prosper."
