The Bosak Health & Wellness Elder Experts Team Volunteer to Inspire Seniors about Family Wellness

A community initiative helping families and loved ones celebrate life today

On Friday afternoon, February 3rd, a voluntary elder experts team of six presented a lunch learn on “family wellness” to over 25 seniors at the Stamford Senior Center. As a result of people putting off getting to know their loved ones dreams and wishes, until they are in crisis mode and it is too late, the Bosak family formed a trusted team of elder experts to help address “family-wellness” in Fairfield County.

The mission of the Bosak Health & Wellness elder experts team is to educate and encourage families to make preplanning a priority in their lives, to help either elders or their children initiate more family meetings to help minimize ongoing uncertainties and worries about finances, belongings, their homes and other significant family matters.

“Too many families get caught in crisis-mode,” said Jerry Bosak, 4th generation owner of the Bosak Funeral Home in Stamford, CT. “People quietly worry about their parents and what will happen to them and we would like to educate families with preplanning knowledge to help eliminate unnecessary family quarrels and uncertainties.” The focus of the elder expert team is to guide people through “Having The Talk of a Lifetime,” an array of open-ended questioning that is instrumental in families getting to know one another. The team has put together a complimentary guidebook to help families initiate more meaningful conversations. “Families are often challenged with starting and having these types of life empowering conversations which can often be liberating,” said Michele Piskin, a Geriatric Care Expert and President of Eldercare Made Simple.

Messineo Long.
