Bridgewater Shuts Stamford Road For Party, Draws Scrutiny: Report

Whether the road in question, Harbor Point Road, is private or public reportedly is a bit of a mystery.

STAMFORD, CT — A party last week thrown by Bridgewater Associates in Stamford that closed a two-block stretch of Harbor Point Road has raised questions about the road's private status, reports the Stamford Advocate.

The world's largest hedge fund rented a portion of the neighborhood for the small party for employees and their families from Building and Land Technology, which is developing the waterfront area. BLT has a tax-increment financing arrangement with the city and has built roads in the neighborhood.

But whether the road is private or public is drawing scrutiny. BLT told the publication that the road - and others in the neighborhood - will become public once the development project is completed, but that they are closed for various events. City officials could not confirm Harbor Point Road's status to the Advocate.
