Building One Community’s (B1C) Community Day Scheduled for 9-18-22
A day welcoming new neighbors to learn about B1C and partners.

Stamford – This week, Building One Community (B1C) Center for Immigrant Opportunity celebrates “Welcoming Week” by holding its first official event, Community Day 2022, at its NEW flagship location at 417 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. This FREE event will be held at 417 Shippan Avenue between 11:00 am – 2:00 pm in the parking lot in front of Building One Community.
For the past decade, Welcoming Week (September 9 – 18) has brought neighbors together to elevate the work happening daily in communities to ensure we all belong and thrive, no matter where we’ve come from B1C’s Sunday celebration event is designed to bring together people of all backgrounds to build strong connections and to learn about B1C’s programs. Together with several partners, including Americares, Person-to-Person, Child Guidance Center, and Stamford Police Department, the community will enjoy a fun-filled day with lots of activities.

- Enjoy raffles & prizes
- Meet the B1C team and learn about our program & services
- Kids activities include a craft challenge to participate in the “Welcoming” theme Bookmark Art contest.
“Welcoming our new neighbors is part of our core values. We have expanded to the east side of Stamford, and this event is a chance for B1C to introduce ourselves to a new community. It’s especially fitting as we close out the official “Welcoming Week” celebration,” said Anka Badurina, Ph.D., Executive Director of Building One Community.

About Building One Community
Building One Community (also known as B1C) is a nonprofit organization established in 2011 that provides a comprehensive resource center for immigrants in the greater Stamford area. The mission of Building One Community is to advance the successful integration of immigrants and their families. Since its inception, the organization has served over 13,700 immigrants from 116 countries. B1C provides free services that educate, employ, empower, and engage immigrants and the broader community. Programs offered include ELL (English Language Learning) programs, family and individual support services, immigration legal services, and workforce development programs. Welcoming Week is an annual campaign and celebration to showcase the movement of communities striving to be more welcoming places for all, including immigrants. Launched in 2012 by Welcoming America and its members, Welcoming Week provides individuals and communities the opportunity to proclaim welcoming values through events and local initiatives that foster mutual understanding between immigrants and non-immigrants, as well as deeper belonging for all.
