Cab Driver Chased Fatal Stamford Hit-and-Run Driver: Affidavit

The driver kept honking his horn until the vehicle stopped.

STAMFORD, CT — A cab driver chased after another driver after a fatal hit-and-run involving a Stamford teen, according to an arrest affidavit.

Wilson Villa-Cabrera was arrested by police earlier this month in connection with the Nov. 5 incident.

The cab driver said Villa-Cabrera initially stopped at the scene of the accident, but then began to drive away, according to the Stamford Advocate. The cab driver followed Villa-Cabrera's vehicle and kept honking until he stopped about 100 yards away.

Karina Tinajero-Arreguib was walking to school to take the SAT. She crossed Strawberry Hill Avenue from west to east in front of the school and not in the crosswalk. She was struck by a Chevrolet Express van and was transported to the hospital where she died from her injuries, according to police.

Villa-Cabrera was charged with misconduct with a motor vehicle and is being held on a $50,000 bond. His Ecuador passport was seized.
