Greenwich Town Hall

The Independence Day Association of Greenwich will kick off the nation's semiquincentennial celebration with its annual Fourth of July flag-raising ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 4, behind Greenwich Town Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The ceremony will feature live music by the Sound Beach Community Band, the Assembly trumpet call, ceremonial rifle fire by the Greenwich Police Department Honor Guard, and remarks from First Selectman Fred Camillo. Boy and Girl Scouts will present the 13 Colonial flags, Boys &amp; Girls Club teens will recite Ragged Old Flag, and veterans from American Legion Post 29 will raise the American flag.
Good Citizenship Awards will be presented to Joell Molina of Greenwich High School, Mia Secko-Thompson of Greenwich Country Day, Meghan McMahon of Sacred Heart, Finn Sargent of Brunswick School, and Mia Jones of Greenwich Academy. The ceremony will also recognize descendants of Greenwich's early settlers, Revolutionary War patriots and fallen patriots. The names of Greenwich residents who died during the Revolutionary War will be read, followed by a moment of silence, a 21-gun salute and Echo Taps.
Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to the Town Hall gazebo for refreshments and America's birthday cake.

Celebrate Independence Day at the Brian R. Bill Darien Memorial VFW Post 6933's 21st Annual Push &amp; Pull Parade on Saturday, July 4.
The morning begins with a Declaration Day ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in the Darien High School courtyard. Families participating in the parade should arrive at DHS by 9:45 a.m. Contest winners will be announced at 10:20 a.m., and the parade steps off at 10:30 a.m.
The parade route travels from DHS to Noroton Avenue and concludes at VFW Post 6933.
Singer-songwriter Griffin House will perform as the special musical guest. After the parade, attendees can enjoy food vendors, live music, face painting and children's activities at the VFW.
Contests include Best Decorated Vehicle, Best Float and Most Patriotic Family, with winners leading the parade as honorary grand marshals.

&nbsp;4th of July is back on the Steps of Hoyt-Barnum,&nbsp;Stamford’s oldest dwelling, celebrating 250 years of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and Rick Petersen returns as your guide as General Putnam at 10 am sharp! He will be traveling through time to invite some notable figures throughout history including Frederick Douglass and Elizabeth Cady-Stanton, who will be delivering their famous speeches. &nbsp;We will also be offering tours of the Hoyt-Barnum House for $5.
Our cast is outfitted by Sophia’s Costumes and Gifts in Cos Cob. Cabaret performer Mel McGuire returns to sing the National Anthem with Cabaret flair. Please bring chairs, and additional parking is available in the Northeast Middle School parking lot.

The Town of Darien Parks &amp; Recreation Department will host its annual Fireworks Spectacular on Friday, July 10, at Darien High School. There is a rain date of July 11.
The event will feature face painting, courtyard games, food trucks, a performance by the Darien Community Band and a synchronized fireworks display. Food vendors are scheduled to include Supreme Poutine, Antonio's Pizza, Mister Softee, Fryborg and Kona Ice.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnic dinners. Face painting by Alicia and novelty glow items from Parade of Novelties will also be available.
Vehicle access to the event will be available only through the Noroton Avenue entrance. Gates to this entrance only will open at 6:30 p.m. and close promptly at 9 p.m. Fireworks are expected to begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Resident parking passes cost $30 per vehicle, with a limit of one pass per household. <a href="https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/darienparksandrec/activity/search/detail/8224?onlineSiteId=0&amp;from_original_cui=true" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Passes go on sale June 15 at 10 a.m.</a> and will be available through July 7 or until sold out. Passes can also be purchased in person through the Darien Parks &amp; Recreation Department.&nbsp;
Parking passes will need to be picked up in person at the Parks &amp; Recreation Department at Town Hall starting on June 22 and must be picked up by July 7.
Walk-ins to the fireworks are welcome, and nonresidents may attend for free, though on-site parking will not be available.
