Richard Gowers in Concert: From Handel’s Church in London to Stamford

Internationally acclaimed British organist Richard Gowers comes to Stamford for a special recital at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Tuesday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m.

Gowers is Director of Music at St. George’s, Hanover Square in London, the historic church closely associated with George Frideric Handel. There is a special connection between his musical home in London and St. John’s: both churches are home to organs built by Richards, Fowkes & Co.

At St. John’s, Gowers will perform on the church’s celebrated Richards, Fowkes & Co. Opus 5, an instrument known well beyond Stamford for its distinctive sound and craftsmanship.

Gowers has established an international career as an organist, pianist, conductor, and musical director, performing in major venues around the world. His Stamford appearance offers a rare opportunity to hear one of Britain’s leading musicians in the intimate setting of St. John’s.
