Orchestra Lumos and Michael Stern present two performances undeniably influenced by Beethoven, but without a note of his music! Hector Berlioz penned his Symphonie fantastique in 1830, taking Beethoven’s dramatic use of storytelling and orchestral color to the next level. It remains a revolutionary orchestral masterpiece—a thrilling and virtuosic ride for musicians and audiences alike. Music by Beethoven contemporaries Emilie Mayer and Louise Farrenc plus a work by Gabriela Ortiz round out this all-orchestral program.
