Car Crashes Into Waterfront Home In Shippan: Stamford Fire

The crash occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Monday, according to the Stamford Fire Department.

STAMFORD, CT — An investigation is underway after a car crashed into a home on Ocean Drive North in the Shippan neighborhood of Stamford on Monday, according to the Stamford Fire Department. One person was taken to Stamford Hospital for evaluation.

At 5:20 p.m., firefighters responded to a home at 6 Ocean Drive North and found a car that collided with an attached garage, according to a news release from the SFD.

Firefighters found a significant amount of damage to the garage area and immediately began efforts to stabilize the structure. Personnel from Rescue Company 1 used specialized struts to prevent the roof and front wall of the garage from further collapse, the news release said. Once the area was stabilized, fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel safely removed one occupant from the car, who was sent to Stamford Hospital.

Due to the amount of damage found, a representative from the City of Stamford Building Department also responded to the scene, according to the SFD. Fire personnel remained on the scene for an additional hour to assist the towing company with removing the car from the garage.

The cause of the collision is being investigated by the Stamford Police Department.
