Coronavirus Stamford: Police Temporarily Suspend Fingerprinting

Police said a public announcement will be made when fingerprinting services resume.​​​

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Police said Thursday they are temporarily suspending fingerprinting services as a precautionary measure in light of the new coronavirus. The announcement was made the same day city officials confirmed a Stamford resident has tested positive for the virus.

The virus, also referred to as COVID-19, is caused by a member of the coronavirus family that's a close cousin to the SARS and MERS viruses that have caused outbreaks in the past.

As of Friday morning, six Connecticut residents and two hospital employees have tested positive for the virus. Additionally, Greenwich Hospital announced Thursday morning a New York resident who received treatment in the hospital's emergency department tested positive for the virus.
