Coyotes Stalk Stamford Girl on Way Home from School: Report
One coyote came within 10 feet of the girl.

STAMFORD, CT—A 12-year-old girl was stalked by three coyotes as she walked home from school in North Stamford Monday.
The coyotes were quiet and stalked her from the woods, according to the Stamford Advocate.
One broke away from the pack and headed within 10 feet of her. She ran to her home which at that point wasn't far away and made it safely.

City officials are meeting with a coyote trapper.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection suggests that people make loud noises and act aggressively to scare coyotes off.

DEEP notes, "Coyotes seen near homes or in residential areas rarely threaten human safety. Coyotes are abundant across North America, yet only a very small number of attacks on humans have ever been reported. Like many animals, coyotes can grow accustomed to buildings and human activity."
