'Deathtrap' in Stamford -- Play Begins Run at Curtain Call Theatre

Performances of the popular Broadway play are scheduled for this weekend through Oct. 12.

From Curtain Call.

Amidst screams of laughter and gasps of fear, Curtain Call opened its new season of productions in The Dressing Room Theatre, with Broadway’s longest-running comic thriller - Deathtrap. Stamford’s only producing theatre company offers this four-week run in the cabaret-style performance space at the Sterling Farms Theatre Complex, 1349 Newfield Ave., Stamford.

“Since seeing the original New York production more than 30 years ago, I have been a huge fan of this show,” said Lou Ursone, Curtain Call executive director and producer of this show. “I remember being totally sucked into the many twists and turns and loving every minute of it,” he added. “I know many fans of the show will be here to see it, but I really hope that the show will be new to even more of our patrons,” Ursone said.

Written by Ira Levin, Deathtrap mixes a Broadway playwright suffering from severe writer’s block with an up-and-coming author. Throw in a foreign psychic, a boorish attorney and the loving wife who has the real money in the family and you’ve got a recipe for big trouble … even murder! Loaded with unforgettable characters, the heart-stopping thrill ride of Deathtrap unfolds with some of the greatest plot twists ever to hit the stage. It’s no wonder that Deathtrap holds the Broadway record for the longest-running comedy thriller. This wickedly funny slice of murderous show biz satire is sure to have audiences guessing whodunit right up to the final curtain. Curtain Call’s production will play Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. through Oct. 12.
