Digital Pharmacy Expands To CT, Opens New Stamford Location
Medly, a patient-centered digital pharmacy that offers free same-day delivery for prescriptions, has opened a location in Stamford.
STAMFORD, CT — Stamford residents and those around the state will now have a convenient option when it comes to picking up their prescriptions.
Medley, a patient-centered digital pharmacy that offers free same-day delivery, has opened its first location in Connecticut with a 2,950 square foot pharmacy at 55 Bedford St. in Stamford. The location officially opened last month.
"With our new Stamford location, Medly will help improve lives by enabling over a million additional patients to seamlessly access their prescriptions through our same day free-delivery and various pharmacy services," said Marg Patel, CEO and co-founder of Medly in a news release. "We know that Medly's technology platform drives improved health outcomes. When this is combined with the wellness products and pharmacy services, we'll transform the way our customers take control of their health."

Faheem Memon, Medly's vice president of the Northeast region, told Patch the company has been eying Connecticut for a while.
Memon said there has been increased demand from Medly's New York City pharmacies, which can deliver right up to Westchester and the Connecticut border.

"We noticed a significant demand not only from the provider side, but also the customer side of folks living in the Stamford area," he added.
Medly was founded in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 2017 by Marg Patel, Chirag Kulkarni and Sahaj Patel. Marg and Sahaj are second-generation pharmacy owners. The company is now in 30 cities across the country.
"What we aim to do is utilize technology to solve customer pain-points. Primarily, the pain-point of inconvenience being number one," Memon explained.
Patients can of course go into a brick and mortar Medly pharmacy and pick up their prescriptions and shop retail, but what makes the company unique is free and fast same-day delivery.
The Stamford location can deliver within a 50-mile radius in Connecticut, from Greenwich up to New Haven.
"We have our own delivery team and logistics team that we've hired in-house at every single one of our pharmacies. You can go to your doctor in the morning at 9 a.m., the doctor will send us the prescription, and we can have your prescription to you just after lunch. It's a unique business model that we have," Memon said.
Patients can tell their doctor Medly is their prefered pharmacy, and once the pharmacy has prepared a prescription, a text is sent with a link notifying the patient that it's ready. At that link, same-day delivery can be scheduled. Patients can also call or text a Medly pharmacy, or utilize Medly's IOS mobile app.
All prescriptions are delivered by members of Medly's HIPAA-certified delivery team. Medication is transported in tamper-free packaging. All payments can be made via the mobile app, phone or with a delivery driver at the time of hand-off.
Medly provides customer service in 12 languages and dispenses all medications – non-sterile compounding, specialty, brand, generic, biologics, and topical – and accepts all types of insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid.
"We view this as an extremely vital service to our patients and our community. When you think about it, most patients are going to a doctor and they're getting a prescription because they're ill, feeling sick, need to get ready for a procedure, or something along those lines," Memon said. "The inconvenience of them having to leave their home to go pick up that prescription and stand in line when they might be sick — this is a huge problem solved for them."
In addition to free same-day delivery, Medly's platform assists with prior authorizations and provides medication reminders, personalized dosage packaging, and medication synchronization "to empower patients to overcome social determinants of health and other challenges to access their medications and take them as prescribed," the company said in a news release.
Memon said Medly has already been well-received by the Stamford community.
"We've been trying to make it a point to go and speak with the neighbors and touch in and let them know we're there. A lot of local business owners and the community as they're passing by are checking the pharmacy out," Memon said. "We're already getting business from the prescription side as well."
For more information on using Medly, patients can go to their website, or speak with their doctor or health care provider.
