Stamford Library To Host Documentary Screening, Panel Discussion

Presented by the Ferguson Library, in partnership with Stamford Interfaith Refugee Settlement and Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services.

On Wednesday, April 21 at 6 p.m., the Ferguson Library, in partnership with Stamford Interfaith Refugee Settlement (SIRS) and Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS), will present a screening of the documentary, Day One. Day One follows a group of teen refugees from war-torn countries who attend a public school for refugees and immigrants in St. Louis, MO, where they are guided through an inspirational program of education, healing and trauma intervention. Directed by Lori Miller. USA. 2019. Running time: 82 minutes. Q&A to follow.

Panelists: Lori Miller, Day One Director; Dr. Tamu Lucero, Stamford Superintendent of Public Schools; Ann O'Brien, IRIS Director of Community Engagement; Maman Cooper, former refugee and currently a schoolteacher. Registration required.
