Dr. Sandy Lizaire-Duff to Lead King Lower School in July 2020
Dr. Lizaire-Duff currently serves as the Head of Lower School at Pingry School in NJ - known nationally for its excellent education.

Stamford, CT -- The King School has elected Dr. Sandy Lizaire-Duff as the new Head of Lower School effective July 1, 2020. Currently, Sandy serves as the Head of Lower School at Pingry School in Short Hills, New Jersey - known nationally as a leader amongst independent schools for its excellent programs - and she is leading her own colleagues in their distance learning program for their young students just as we are.
Dr. Lisaire-Duff spent the first part of her career as a Lower School teacher before becoming a staff developer, where she worked closely with teachers to develop their pedagogical practices. She has spent her time building strong relationships and teaching practices with her colleagues, and partnering with parents and teachers to create strong lines of communication that help support students. Most of all, Dr. Lisaire-Duff loves working with young children, and she makes time every day to connect with her students in their classrooms, at lunch, and around the campus.
Dr. Karen Eshoo, Head of School, comments, “We are so lucky to have attracted someone with Sandy's deep expertise and passion to our school. “

Dr. Lizaire-Duff adds, “My experiences as an educator and leader in K-5 education have rooted me in a deep understanding and appreciation for what children need to thrive and learn. I share King’s value of encouraging students to be responsible and courageous critical thinkers who seize unlimited possibilities. I am thrilled to join a community that honors students’ perspectives and develops character and leadership. It’s important for the children to feel good about themselves as they strive for self-discovery and personal growth, knowing that they have the support of their parents and school community.”
King began an extensive, nationwide search in December 2019, led by its Search Committee and supported by Research Group 175 consulting firm. Two finalist candidates were invited for meetings on campus, in early March, with the broad King Lower School community, including parents, students, faculty, administrators, and trustees.
