Eastern Land Management Donates to SGC Children’s Education
Recognizing Value in Children's Horticultural Education With Donation to Stamford Garden Club's Lettuce Challenge
Eastern Land Management or ELM, the leading commercial property management organization in Southern Connecticut and the New York metropolitan area has donated $2,500 to support The Stamford Garden Club’s Annual Lettuce Challenge. The Lettuce Challenge supports Stamford Public School science requirements and has been cloned for use in nearby towns.
Launched in 2011, the Annual School Lettuce Challenge, has grown from just 300 children in 2012 to 1,880 children in just six years. This outstanding increase in participation has put funding pressure on the Stamford Garden Club. In response, members have sought donations. The membership is grateful to Eastern Land Management for their donation and sponsorship which will insure that the Lettuce Challenge will continue to grow in 2018.
“As professional and lifelong horticulturists, we believe that being around leafy green plants has real and measurable impact. ELM is proud to support green curriculums that use nature as a classroom and help students understand where their food comes from. The Lettuce Challenge is one of our favorite ways to do that,” said Bruce Moore, Sr., founder and CEO.
