Ex-Stamford Police Intern Accused of Impersonating Police

A former Stamford Police intern is facing two counts of impersonating a police officer following reported incidents that led to his dismissal as an intern.
According to The Advocate, Ashwin Mathur, 21, of Fieldstone Terrace, was working as an intern in the department’s records office, until he was dismissed two weeks ago following accusations that he violated procedures and portrayed himself as a police officer in two separate incidents.

He was arrested on July 16 after he approached a woman twice — once to discuss car burglaries, the other while she was driving near her home.
