False Report Of Explosion Closes Stamford Road: Report

Police said the road was temporarily closed following a false report of an explosion. It has since reopened.

STAMFORD, CT — A false report of an explosion temporarily shut down a portion of Colonial Road early Monday afternoon, the Stamford Advocate reports. The road was closed up to Mayflower Avenue as police and firefighters investigated the residence where the call originated.

According to the Stamford Advocate, responding firefighters reported there was no fire or present danger at the residence, and the call was deemed a false report. The call prompted a response from two fire trucks, as well as police cruisers and an Eversource crew vehicle.
