Family Centers' Annual Scrabble Challenge In Stamford Nov. 15

STAMFORD, CT - From Family Centers: Grab a dictionary and brush up on those words that start with the letter “Q”! It’s time for Literacy Volunteers' 18th Annual Scrabble Challenge.

The event will be held Thursday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Stamford Hilton Hotel. The Scrabble Challenge brings together families, school groups and members of the business community for an evening of friendly competition. Players will enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and two rounds of Scrabble.

All proceeds will support Literacy Volunteers' English-language, literacy and education services offered to residents of Fairfield County.

The 18th Annual Scrabble Challenge will be emceed by WGCH-AM morning host and news director Tony Savino.

Teams (up to three players) are forming now and a number of sponsorship opportunities are available. Teams are eligible to compete in three divisions: Corporate, Friends and Family and Schools.

Literacy Volunteers is a program of Family Centers, which offers free literacy, English language instruction and adult education services to more than 600 Fairfield County residents each year. Programs are facilitated by a team of more than 100 volunteers, who donate more than 12,000 hours each year. Computer classes, financial literacy services and work readiness program are also offered.
