Greenwich Man Sentenced In Double-Fatal Stamford Crash: Report
The man who pleaded guilty in the December 2022 crash that killed two Stamford residents was sentenced on Wednesday.
STAMFORD, CT — Michael Talbot, the 25-year-old Greenwich man who pleaded guilty to hitting two residents with his car and killing them as they crossed a street in Stamford in December 2022, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Wednesday, the Stamford Advocate reported.
Talbot faced 10 to 15 years under a deal offered by a Superior Court judge, and he pleaded guilty this past December to two counts of manslaughter, one count of evading causing death, one count of operating under the influence, and one count of reckless driving.
On Dec. 3, 2022, Giovani Vega Benis and Yuliana Arias Lozano finished working at Cantina Mexicana on Summer Street in Stamford and went to Curley's Diner together to grab a late-night bite to eat, police said at the time.

Shortly after at around 2:05 a.m., the two were walking each other home and crossing Washington Boulevard at Main Street when they were hit by a 2022 Mercedes Benz driven by Talbot, police said.
Talbot fled the area on foot, but was apprehended nearby a short time later, police said.

On Jan. 5, 2023, Talbot was arrested with the help of the Collier County Sheriff's Office in Florida. Charges were upgraded against Talbot in April of last year.
Talbot had rejected two offers from state prosecutors before accepting a third one on Dec. 1, 2023.
The Advocate also said that in addition to his prison sentence, Talbot's license will be permanently revoked.
