Public Hearing Scheduled For Springdale Transit-Oriented Development Project

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Transportation, Traffic & Parking Department will be holding a public meeting on Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the Springdale Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Project.

During the meeting, project team members will go over the project design, highlight key components, discuss the intended benefits, and conclude with a question-and-answer session.

The project seeks to enhance the Springdale Train Station Parking lot and a section of Hope Street to improve access for pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers while increasing safety overall.

According to the project page website, improvements include:

  • Improved Pedestrian Circulation within the Train Station;
  • Improved Pedestrian Crossings (Reduced Pedestrians Crossing Distances) at Hope Street and
  • Clearview Avenue in Addition to Adjacent Intersections;
  • High-Visibility Pedestrian Crossings;
  • New and/or Expanded Sidewalks;
  • Pedestrian Level Streets Lights and Improved Streetscape with New Street Trees;
  • Improved Kiss & Ride (Pick-up/Drop-off) Area at the Train Station;
  • Improved Bus Shelters with ADA Access; and,
  • Much more...

Stamford has been awarded $2 million to implement the recommendations of the state-funded "Glenbrook / Springdale Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Feasibility Study" to improve access to the Springdale Train Station.

The project is funded through the 2017 Responsible Growth and Transit-Oriented Development Program through the State of Connecticut, Office of Policy and Management.
