How A Stamford Man Won $85K From A CT Lottery Game

STAMFORD, CT — One lucky Stamford man recently went out for coffee and later came home with $85,524 after playing a Connecticut Lottery game.

According to the CT Lottery, Melvin K. went out to grab his wife a cup of coffee at his regular spot, Cove Convenience, located at 734 Cove Road, before she went to work. While getting the coffee, the store owner told Melvin there had been two CASH5 winners and that he should check his numbers.

Melvin is a regular CASH5 player, the CT Lottery said on its website, and he plays the same numbers regularly — 4, 6, 8, 14, and 15 — which represent the birthdays of his children, himself and his wife.

"When he found out he was a winner, Melvin was stoked!" the CT Lottery said. "He ran out of the store, leaving the coffee behind, and woke up his wife with the good news. After a relaxing ride to Rocky Hill from Stamford to claim his prize, Melvin plans to use the money towards a new house or some household renovations."
