Police said a 47-year-old man was killed after he struck a parking garage support column with his car on May 26.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford police said they have identified the driver who was killed in a crash at a parking garage on May 26 as Hector Ricardo Rivera-Salazar, 47, of Stamford.
A preliminary investigation found that Rivera-Salazar was driving a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder northbound on Houston Terrace around 11:45 p.m., this past Friday when he drove across all lanes of traffic on East Main Street "at a very high rate of speed," police said in a news release.
The Nissan continued until it entered the property of 1266 E. Main St., and struck a support column for the parking garage, police added. The Nissan was heavily damaged, and Rivera-Salazar was pronounced dead at the scene.
