Indeed To Add Hundreds Of New Jobs With Stamford Expansion

The move marks the company's second large expansion in just over a year.

STAMFORD, CT — Online career giant Indeed.com plans to spend $66 million to expand its presence in Stamford and add 500 new jobs, the company and Gov. Dannel Malloy announced Monday.

The expansion will bring the company's headcount to 1,700 in Stamford, and a company representative told Patch that decisions have yet to be finalized about whether the company will remain at its Broad Street offices or move to another location in the city.

"We are currently exploring real estate options to accommodate our growth, however, specific plans are still being worked out at this time," they said.

Last year, the company added 500 positions to bring it to the current 1,200 jobs, and Malloy said in a statement Indeed's expansion is a great for the state's talented workforce.

As with last year's expansion, the state will loan Indeed $10 million over 15 years, at a low interest rate, to help with the plans, and the company also may be eligible for loan forgiveness if certain employment obligations are met.

"Indeed’s expansion in our state is great news for the well-trained, talented, and sought-out workers in Connecticut’s tech sector," said Malloy. "This is a global, innovative company that has recognized the benefits that Connecticut brings to the tech industry. We welcome the company’s capital investment in our state and the growth of hundreds of high-quality jobs that will follow."

As to the specific types of jobs that the latest expansion will target, the rep said the company will offer employment in various departments.

"Stamford has been a base, in particular, for our excellent sales and client success teams, but we will be hiring across all functions as our global business continues to grow," they told Patch. "Opportunities will be posted to www.indeed.jobs."

Indeed is the world's largest job website, "connecting job seekers to millions of employment listings in over 60 countries and 28 languages," according to the state, adding that more 250 million utilize the site each month. Those job seekers conduct "any number of employment-related activities including searching for jobs, posting resumes, and researching companies."

Added Dave O’Neill, Indeed’s Chief Operating Officer, "We continue to invest in Connecticut because this region has helped us deliver on our mission of helping people get jobs since we started here 14 years ago. While we have expanded all over the world since our founding, Stamford continues to be a critical region for our success and we are confident we will continue to find the talent we need to help our business continue its growth."
