City of Stamford announces that the Parks and Recreation Departments have united as one department, led by Director, Kevin Murray
STAMFORD, CT
The City of Stamford is excited to announce the Parks and Recreation Departments have come together to create one department that will be led by new Director, Kevin Murray. The two departments have worked separately for many years and after the recent retirement of Laurie Albano, the Superintendent of Recreation, the city has brought together these two vital departments and announced Kevin Murray has been named the new Director. Kevin has been a city employee since 2013 as the Parks and Facilities manager.

“Stamford Parks brings so much joy to so many people which includes active and passive use daily! Combining the Parks and Recreation services is a huge step forward into a new direction which will highlight Stamford's largest assets under one umbrella” says Kevin on combining the two departments.
Stamford Recreation creates hundreds of programs that offer comprehensive and inclusive leisure opportunities and experiences for the youth and adult population of Stamford. They strive to build a strong sense of community, increase social, cultural, enrichment and wellbeing for all by providing diverse programs, events and athletic leagues.
Stamford Parks Department runs and maintains over 30 facilities in the City of Stamford. These parks serve the residents of the City of Stamford by providing safe, fun and beautiful outdoor facilities for all.

“The merging of the Parks and Recreation Department will allow for more direct coordination of critical park and field maintenance with recreation services and programs,” said Mayor Caroline Simmons. “I want to congratulate Kevin Murray on his new role and look forward to working with him and the entire Parks and Recreation Department in order to ensure we continue to invest and maintain our beautiful City parks.”
