Large Garage Fire Extinguished In Stamford: FD

STAMFORD, CT — A total of 22 firefighters, including one who sustained minor injuries, extinguished a large garage fire on Diaz Street early Sunday morning, according to fire officials.

Crews responded to the area around 5 a.m. and found a large three-bay garage on fire, Deputy Chief Matt Palmer said in a news release. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"The fire was venting through the roof of the building and impinging on several adjacent residences," Palmer said in a news release.

Crews were ultimately able to quickly extinguish the blaze within 15 minutes and safely evacuate the occupants of the affected homes nearby, Palmer said. One firefighters sustained minor injuries, Palmer said.

Stamford Emergency Medical Services and police provided assistance, and the city fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of fire, Palmer said.
