Leaf Pickup Continues In Stamford After Delay
Leaf pickup in Stamford was delayed earlier this month but has now continued, according to city officials.
STAMFORD, CT — Leaf pickup in Stamford was delayed earlier this month but has now continued, according to city officials.
In a post on the Stamford Government Facebook page Tuesday, officials said the delay was due to "the snowstorm earlier this month and staffing challenges."
The city's crews and trucks that perform leaf pickup are the same crews and trucks that perform snow removal, officials said. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"Whenever there is a snowstorm, these crews must transition truck equipment from leaf pickup to snow removal," the post reads, "for example, installing plows. Since these are the same crews and trucks, leaf pickup cannot be performed during snow removal."
Additionally, the city had difficulty hiring truck drivers for this season's leaf pickup and snow removal, officials said.
