Mail Theft Investigation Leads To Arrest Of Stamford Woman: Police
Police said they arrested a Stamford woman on June 20. She faces additional federal charges stemming from a search warrant at her home.
STAMFORD, CT — A 33-year-old Stamford woman has been arrested after an investigation into mail theft from the U.S. Post Office on Camp Avenue, according to the Stamford Police Department.
Kierra Blount was arrested at her home on June 20 on firearms charges and risk of injury to a minor, police said in a news release.
A search warrant of Blount's residence found a loaded 9mm "ghost gun," eight pages containing the names of potential victims and their personal identification information, multiple credit cards in the names of other people, over 350 checks made payable to multiple victims, and evidence that indicated Blount was stealing mail, police said.

Ghost guns are virtually untraceable, and can be made at home using parts purchased online.
Blount faces additional federal charges for the items found in her home, police noted.

"The U.S. Postal Inspection Service will continue to conduct investigations, alongside our local law enforcement partners, that seek prosecution of those who compromise the personal information of our customers and the integrity [of] the U.S. Mail," said Ketty Larco- Ward, inspector in charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Boston Division, in a news release. "Our customers expect their personal information to be kept secure when mailing with the U.S. Postal Service. These types of crimes cause considerable financial damage and personal inconvenience."
Stamford police thanked the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for collaborating on the investigation.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected to be filed.
