Man Dies After Being Struck By Front-End Loader In Stamford: Police

The incident occurred Wednesday morning at a private business in Stamford, according to police.

STAMFORD, CT — A 64-year-old Stamford man working at a private business in Stamford was killed after he was hit by a front-end loader on Wednesday morning, according to the Stamford Police Department.

Police said the man was working in the rear of a business and assisting a customer at approximately 8:13 a.m. when he was struck by a front-end loader that was operated by a 28-year-old Stamford resident. A front-end loader is a heavy equipment machine used mostly in construction to move or load materials.

The man was taken to Stamford Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police did not give an address of where the incident occurred. Patch has reached out to the SPD for more information.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was called and responded to the scene, police noted, adding that in these cases, OSHA is the main investigative body.

"The Stamford Police Department will support OSHA in their investigation and have a final determination when all parties have completed their respective investigations," police said in a news release.
