Man Sentenced for Drug Trafficking in Stamford
Man arrested in Stamford with gun and drugs sentenced to 5 years in federal prison
STAMFORD, CT — A Danbury man was sentenced Wednesday to five years in jail for illegally possessing a firearm in connection with his drug trafficking activities in Stamford.
According to court documents, the Stamford Police Department arrested Fernando "Sosa" Rodriguez, 28, on September 12, 2018 on Wardwell Street in Stamford. Rodriguez had approximately 58 grams of cocaine and 116 grams of marijuana on his person, and another 100 grams of cocaine in his vehicle. Police also found a Ruger 9mm handgun, and a loaded 9mm magazine in the vehicle.
Police have held Rodriguez since his federal arrest on January 10. He pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime on March 15. On July 17, he was sentenced to five years in a federal prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release.
